A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda
Founder-Ācārya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)
Isavasya School draws its vision from the educational and spiritual mission of Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Śrīla Prabhupāda envisioned an education that went beyond accumulating academic knowledge. For him, the true purpose of education was to awaken one’s understanding of the self, one’s relationship with the Supreme Lord, and one’s responsibility to live a life of wisdom, character and devotion. He placed systematic study of śāstra and practical spiritual training at the heart of education.
His vision was not merely theoretical. He established schools and gurukulas where children could receive spiritual training alongside their education, emphasising spiritual knowledge from an early age and an environment shaped by the principles of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
Remarkably, the name Isavasya has a direct connection with Śrīla Prabhupāda’s educational work. In a letter dated 10 January 1972, while discussing children’s education in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he specifically referred to “ISAVASYA SCHOOL” and gave instructions concerning its education, discipline and spiritual practices.
Through the study of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Bhagavad-gītā and other Vaiṣṇava scriptures, along with practical devotional training, the school seeks to develop knowledge, faith, character, understanding and the ability to share this wisdom with others.
Education should help us understand who we are, understand our relationship with Kṛṣṇa, and learn how to live accordingly.
